(13,938 posts)the fact is the "red" and "blue" divisions have nothing to do with the mason dixon line, but are all about rural vs urban. Remember when Georgia voted blue? Remember when the "blue wall" states were not red?
If we ant to be honest, the truth is that the attempts to disenfranchise black voters have been too successful, and NOT challenged. What also hurts is this attitude of SOME blue voters that they are not adding to the issues. when the blue collar voters look at some people who are Democrats and then go "wait a minute, those people voted for me to lose my job."
This is not to say the red states do not have a problem, they never allowed reconstruction to happen after the civil war, repaying Lincoln for his "malice toward none" with a bullet. However, if nothing else, there will be no way Democrats win without the black voters a civil war 2 will cost. It also will nto win when some centrist Dems rush in to comfort the offended wite voters, namely because they ae too scared to live in "the wrong neighborhoods" Regrettably, there are some blue blue states who also have some strign pockets of hate as much as Dixie.
