(60,746 posts)Theoretically, we could win every vote in every solid blue state and still lose the Presidency, House and Senate. The seats we win in the blue or purple areas of the House are why we can win the House. The only way to win the Senate or Presidency, both of which in different ways are easier for the Republicans to win, is the very hard work you did in Colorado.
In the time DU has existed, the color of some states has changed. 2004 was the first election for DU, Virginia, Colorado, and Arizona were all considered red while we needed 2 of the then swing states, PA, OH, and FL. OH and FL have become drastically redder. On the other hand, CO and VI were blue even in the last terrible election. ( I may have missed other states with big changes, but these show that there can be change.)
Like others say, any succession post is just blowing off steam. It is worthwhile that this poster in their posts here is clearly hurt by what is seen as attacks or at least lack of support for Democrats living in red states. I don't think an explicit rule is needed, but an early response to ask the poster to consider that they are attacking the very people we need to win. This is NOT giving up beliefs, it is asking for civility.
