that the Old Man has that makes his followers revere/fear him so blindly. I think Vance would lack the seemingly bottomless control the Old Man has over Congress. They might not fear his unproven influence over the voters.

He also lacks the family based grift-support structure the Organization offers.

I think Vance would be as bad as any non-Orange Repub we've seen since Bush the Elder. But he would not be as bad overall as the Old Man.

I would be willing to take that chance, with no better future on offer.
