It's not that Vance has no charisma; it's that he has anti-charisma. He is thoroughly unlikeable, even by those who share his repugnant political beliefs. He's too awkward and whiny, with none of the swagger that impresses the rubes. I think he would flounder while MAGA devolved into backstabbing and intrigues. In any case, that's what I hope would happen.
I don't agree with those who say that Trump is only the symptom and that another comparable figurehead could take over. I think MAGA was the perfect confluence of spokesmonster and loathsome agenda, a marriage made in the bowels of hell that wouldn't have nearly the same clout with a different monster as its face.
