(43,018 posts)that our Canadian friends are dealing with this very well. We should emulate them. I love that picture above. I think the Canadians know it is this nutcase that stole his way into the WH and it is not us.
There is a really good article I ran across from Vox that tells about the strength of the checks and balances of our system. I am going to format it and post it tomorrow or the next day.
I realize that my experiences have made it easier for me to see that they are going to fail.* At the time I went through them, it was very hard. For example, the first extended lawsuit I did was when computers were just beginning to be bought by regular middle class Americans. I not only had to learn how to use a computer, I had to get one for myself and this was when they were very expensive. In addition, I had to learn the legal system: all in about six weeks! Actually less than that--they only give you 20 days or so to prepare your papers--that means research, legal writing and citation, formatting, filing: there's a lot to it. Imagine learning to produce papers on a computer at the same time! My brain was so scrambled that I was walking into walls.
I didn't realize that those decades of such work taught me something invaluable and that is paying off now. I look around me and see the angst of people here and know that my experiences have spared me all that.
The most important thing you can do is keep your spirits up. You can't worry about others: take care of your own mental attitude first. Then you'll be in a place where you can help others.
*note that they are starting to "get it." See this link where the GOP is telling them how stupid they are in going about things the way they have.
