37. Speaking as the parent of a high school trans girl,

I will agree this is not an issue worthy of national debate given the tiny number of people it actually affects.

Having said that, this is not the way to deal with questions, telling republicans you're right and the democratic response is bad and the republican ad was great. Ffs.


If we do have to get sucked into debates on this topic,
we need to have a unified response to bigotry. If there's any crap given to women or *any* minority, we should always make the issue about freedom and fairness for all americans.

Americans don't want coaches or government officials inspecting their genitalia, Americans don't want to have to carry around their birth certificate to go to the bathroom or enter a sporting event, Americans don't want to get into arguments with other parents trying to disqualify their kid because they deem her Adam's Apple too prominent.

I guarantee that where girls are banned from women sports, there will be more false accusations than valid ones simply because the number of asshole parent far outnumber the rather rare trans women athletes. And Americans don't want those arguments.

Etc.

If we allow them to divide and conquer, they win. Don't let them pick off one minority group at a time or otherwise divide us. All hate is an attack on all Americans. That's a far more powerful frame.
