10. Wow, I had no idea California had such a law.

CA Fam Code § 4400 (2018) “Support of Parents” makes adult children responsible for supporting “a parent who is in need and unable to maintain himself or herself by work.” However, the law states that this applies unless “otherwise provided by law.”


But does that even include their credit card bills and such? It's one thing to require grown children support their parents by providing them food and shelter, but could their bill collectors come after the children too?
