I thank Ronnie Rat Raygun for that. As I tell folks, he ended the Fairness Doctrine, and deregulated businesses. When attempts were made to make it better, by legislation like the Media Ownership and Reform Act, introduced by the late great Maurice Hinchey in 2005, T was defeated. Then I tell them that there are basically only six owners of the media in the US. And what is considered “public” broadcasting, is not even regulated in regards to programming, and public media has to rely on donations, where in Europe it is the government who pay for most of it.
