I don't think that Trump is suicidal. I think that he is a profoundly stupid grifter who is surrounded by malevolent right wing idiots who are deeply mistaken about what might happen if you destroy the Federal Government. As you say, the economy is huge and complex. And the Federal Government is massive and integrated into the national economy. Kill the federal government and you kill the economy. These right wingers are supposed to be such great businessmen but what they actually are is thieves who are profoundly ignorant of how the economy and the government actually work. Unless something stops him, Trump is going to run the American economy into the ground just like one of his shitty casinos.
