I wonder if the difference is that Republicans, in power or out, are prone to always approving their party or leader, while on the left, the question prompts an internal debate as to whether the party is doing what the person wants.

Now, when each day brings another loss to things we hold dear, it may be hard to answer in the positive. We expect the leaders to protect our interests and they haven't. The reality is that with the Republicans controlling all three branches and benefiting from a right wing Supreme Court, they have very little ability to fight back.
