So Schumer tried to explain it again tonight on Hayes. He is not good at communicating on a a laymen's level [View all]

If someone on this board can say I'm wrong in my interpretation here please do, but as of yet, in many of my replies on this nobody has.
Please, I welcome it. I'm no Schumer fan, never have been. But as much as my pea brain understands this he made the right decision because we're drowning and we only have a twig to hold onto.

The repukes were hoping the Dems would shut the government down. Proof was they had the Alien Enemies Act cued up that night. They were ready to declare a national emergency. They were/are ready to shut the courts down. People need to understand that out of the shit choices we had the shutdown removed the guardrail of the courts. These fuckers are itching, drooling for any damn reason they can to declare a national emergency nationwide due to the disfunction of congress or whatever reason they can get away with. If that happens the Executive takes control until congress can agree. THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN IF WE SHUT DOWN! A shutdown could very well have put the courts on the sidelines. That single thing was the deciding factor.

I have looked and looked and as far as I can find Schumer is absolutely correct on that. The shutdown could go on for at least 6 months if not longer. During that time the courts would be virtually knee capped, null.

Schumer's problem is he is short, condescending and a poor communicator. As much as he grates on my nerves (so much I've damn near been banned for attacking him before) he made the ONLY decision that keeps our head above water... for now.

I agree with calls for Schumer to step down as leader. I have been calling for the younger upcoming progressives to be allowed to step up. There is too much and too many corporate swinging Democrats running the show in the Senate for too long. Its time to shake and consolidate damn it!

Like I said if my reasoning here is wrong please explain why. Not gonna hurt my feelings and if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

Peace and Carrots

I'm saying we are in the midst of a constitutional crisis right now. gab13by13 Mar 2025 #14
Yes I'm tired of the "constitutional crisis" being looked at as some future event. BannonsLiver Mar 2025 #17

If our strategy is to do what Schumer is doing and move to the right like Newsom, Cuthbert Allgood Mar 2025 #8
We have to do whatever we can to get to the midterms alive. There was no strategy here only 2 choices Cheezoholic Mar 2025 #9
Don't know if Schumer's vote was right or wrong. I did read today that telemedicine will continue because of CR. Silent Type Mar 2025 #10
It's interesting to me that often leaders in the House and Senate aren't better communicators EdmondDantes_ Mar 2025 #11
