3. I wouldn't buy it at current price, but I understand why investors have valued it so highly

What motivates investors is not always simple. In this instance, Toyota is a stable company that is considered to have little growth potential. Tesla is viewed as having more growth potential. So its a bet on the future to a certain extent.

As noted, its not a bet I would take, but I'm a risk-averse investor.
