A person can be appointed to a leadership position, but be incapable of actually leading. Sometimes that happens when a person is in that appointed position for a long time, having significant seniority ...... but unable to change to master changing circumstances. And still others may not "officially" be in a leadership position, but yet be recognized as leading the way by a very large number of people.

AOC's ability to communicate values in a language that people understand is in stark contrast to say the convicted sex offender/ felon now in the White House. He has given what actually is the same speech since he entered the republican primary in 2015. "I'm a genius. I'm a victim. Non-white people are dangerous. I hate women."

Malcolm X often said that if you place a cool, clear glass of water next to a glassd of sludge, thirsty people will make the correct choice. And that is what we are seeing today.
