(379 posts)I was a fighter; and fought against everything 'bad' that ever happened to me.
Now that I am old, decrepit and frail; with no options except to stay. I just can't see a 'younger me' now, being any different than I was when I 'was' young when leaving MY country for any reason would not have been an option that I would have even considered. I would stay and fight.
Some countries now seem to be safer than others; but, for how long will they last if US democracy completely falls? How long can the little bit of democracy that we still have last, if voting Dems. leave the country?
That, being said, I will not blame or shame anyone who has the resources and opportunity to leave in their going. Hopefully, wherever they land, they will try to make that, and the world, a better place to live.
Knowing that my time on this planet is a lot shorter than it was even yesterday, I have decisions to make and/or revise if I want to leave it, even a tiny bit, better than I found it. Before 21 Jan. that was easy. Today, it is HARD!
