The disturbing part for me is when a high profile man like this turns Fox and others manipulation of your emotions on what was already a lost election into some form of reasoning for the tragedies that continue to befall you. This man whom we must credit with some level of education has listened to the Right Wing look into the crystal ball and predict the outcome of the election and rather than accept they were lying in order to whip up the very sentiments he is expressing somehow believes the election was stolen from him and his ilk. He has taken Fox news as Gospel. This should be troubling to you, scepticism is healthy.
I have to speculate that this atmosphere and heightening of tension and the creation of false threats could play to the more extreme Right Wing's target audience of young men, when those young men are seriously troubled individuals what, if any, is the responsibility for subsequent problems the media must carry for the constant hysterias being whipped up.
The UK is far from perfect and I am seriously at odds with this country. A few points do stand out though and as fundamentalism is part of the root cause I will start there. The UK has an Advertising Standards Authority, yes that's right we threw the snake oil salesmen out of Dodge a long time ago, so the idea of people soliciting money to pray for you to get rich is such an obvious scam it would not even make it to air. Same goes for miracle soap or anything claimed to have health or indeed any benefit to the purchaser they must have some provable benefit otherwise you do not get a shop window the way the charlatans are allowed on your networks.
With that start we then go onto your news and current affairs programmes. Oh! deary, deary me. Where to begin? We had the Hungeford and Dunblane tragedies but the thing to point out immediately is the fact these were two grown men, the man at the centre of the Dunblane tragedy was known to have paedophile tendencies. Although we had the James Bolger murder by two young boys the idea of young men arming to the teeth and going to murder as many as possible of their classmates or children in school would still seem to be an anathema to young men raised on similar Hollywood and televisual violence, so the problems would seem to go deeper than that. Nowhere within those claiming to be presenting news or comment on the mainstream would you have anyone claiming God wasn't there as the sole reason, indeed any reason, for the occurence of such abhorrent acts which should leave us asking the question "where have all the American adults emigrated to?". The politicians in the UK would also be taken to task, or not, over their response. However the idea that the election of the politician charged with the responsibility being elected as prime cause or catalyst would get one laughed off the airwaves. Once again the problem would seem to run deeper.
