(14,885 posts)So far his last significant loss was to Joe Biden. And even that proved to have no real consequences for Trump.
As far as I can tell he and his allies are positioning themselves to remove all barriers to their power over this country. And so far, I have not seen anything prove to be more than a minor speedbump in their path. Tell me the military is resisting him, and we might have something. Tell me that 2 dozen senate republicans are ready to impeach him, and we would be cooking with gas. Show me a significant rebellion in the supreme court, and there could be some hope.
But he doesnt care if his people are incompetent, as long as they are loyal. He doesnt care about crashing the market unless it has direct reprecussions for himself, personally. Protests in the street mean little, if he doesnt see them, or if he can get law enforcement or the military to crack down on them. Future elections are in doubt.
And the more powerful of the global adversaries of this country are watching with glee, happy to let, and even encourage Trump destroy the power of this country. Those who were our allies are moving on, with the certain knowledge that the USA can not be relied on as it had been in the past. Trump or no, our power and prestige in the world will never again in any of our lifetimes equal what it was on November 4th 2024. Unfortunately, even if he were impeached and immediately replaced with Kamala, Obama, Bernie, Hillary, or any of the many noteworthy options, the damage done is not fixable.
