could bring energy but what I'm reading is jusr focusing on age. You should be able to present that energy and appeal without having to mention age.
Maybe things will be different from actually listening to him but just reading this he sounds like a bore.

What I noticed last election is that Hoyer defeated his Democratic primary challengers 72.3 to 27.7
