73. The number of "dems have no power why waste it on this" comments is alarming?

I agree that there was no way impeachment was going to happen even if not table, but what I don’t understand is why that result is necessary for success. I believe that messaging and counter propaganda is the only real weapons the democrats have for the time being. This may have provided an opportunity to get more media coverage of this administrations missteps. Trump has been shown to cave under pressure from special interests and from public pressure. Why not apply some? This result just gives the media a chance to spin this as “most democrats don’t believe Trump has done anything impeachable.”

Why are many the law and order types here all of a sudden dropping strict adherence to the constitution, laws, and rules in favor of more pragmatic concerns? If Trump has done anything impeachable, it is our lawmakers’ attempt to have hearings about this matter.

If you are a pragmatist and believe the democrats don’t control any of the levers of power, why are you so concerned with their time wasted? Are you expecting bipartisan cooperation? Wasted Democratic Party time also equals wasted Republican Party time. Also, I’m guessing putting some pressure on the weaker members of the Republican House would not be an altogether bad thing? The endgame does not have to be impeachment itself.

Also, I believe we should carefully consider what the Democratic Party leadership has strategized, but I also believe this ceases to be a forum if we acquiesce to their every decision in some misguided appeal to their authority.
