9. There wasn't a lot to celebrate the first one either.

They knew they were not far into what would be a years-long fight.

After all, they had already known troops in the street, already seen attacks against people who wanted fair government and fair taxation.

They didn't know how that fight would turn out, and we don't either.

This year, we need to go back to basics, and take a page from our forebears.
