There are a few issues Democratic candidates probably do need to sidestep as much as possible. This is one of them.

One unexpected good thing that could come of Mamdani's win is that it's now clear that Muslims are not an oppressed minority with no power. At least not in NYC. So we can drop that trope, which has been false for a long time, and maybe get people to acknowledge that antisemitism is a bigger problem.
