requiring all of this and fingerprints. Even though I am not an employee and my interaction with them is business to business. they also request a copy of our drivers license and a copy of all of the titles to our equipment. Even the titles for equipment not being used to do any job for them. They claim it is because of all of the cargo theft that is going on. There is cargo theft and it has increased but the loads stolen are specific high end things such as liquor, laptop computers etc. They know this but they still put haulers like me through this crap even though we are just hauling a load of plywood or scrap paper etc.

I've had some of them hang up the phone when I ask them if they are so stupid as to believe that someone is going to steal a load of scrap paper. They all refuse to say who has access to the information we provide, what safeguards they have and how long our info will be kept on file. So in other words they want all of our info while giving none of their own. These folks are the freight brokers in the industry and over the last 30 years they have come to have a stranglehold on freight access for smaller operators like myself.
