18. Update: We did nothing last night.

However, our neighbors in the area had what I think was the loudest "celebration" I can remember in all the years we've lived here. Illegal fireworks are banned in our city, though "safe and sane" are not. There were a lot of both last night. I wrote the city council this a.m., though it won't do a thing.
