Now, I'm sure German chemists are required to learn English.

A lot of suffering was required to bring Germany to where it is today, but it is not the world power that it once was.

I suspect the time will come when scientists will need to learn Chinese. Happily, my son is well underway.

As a scientific world power, the United States is finished. When you elevate the likes of the ignorant ex-Junkie RFK Jr. to oversee science, the damage will be irretreivable in the lifetime of anyone now living. It's not a spigot that one turns on and off.
