...soothsaying all that much. If it makes you happy let me say that I predict, with the understanding that predictions are always subject to invalidation by results, that some of the damage will be irretreivable.

Consider the Mauna Loa Carbon Dioxide Observatory, the data of which I often reference in posts here, which has established a continuous record of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere since 1959. The orange pedophile in the White House wants to close it. Perhaps it will be bulldozed and replaced by a casino. Thus even if it's rebuilt, the data for 2026-2029 will be lost, irretreivable.

You are free of course to quibble all you want and I do not object. To me as a scientist with an understanding of what science involves, I'm not sanguine with, "Don't worry, be happy, everything will work out in the end." That's my perspective and you are of course free to hold yours.
