(150,436 posts)So far, only Hiroshima and Nagasaki qualify, as far as I know. I have seen some before and after photos of both, though.
They were cities with reasonably large populations. You can look up before and after images of both. As for the photo in the OP, I have no reference for the before picture, which isn't offered. I can see that the place is not an urban community. More like a rural town, with winding dirt roads, etc.
So, I think the comparison is probably not particularly a good one. Yes, there is a great deal of destruction shown, but not on the nuclear weapon scale. There are still some two story buildings standing in the foreground of that photo, and we do not know what that looked like beforehand.
I deplore the destruction, as I do all damages of wars. But I think the comparison with a nuclear attack is overdrawn. Looks like typical wartime destruction to me.
