As the rising cost of living continues to put pressure on consumers’ wallets, a potential new price hike at the grocery store is threatening to put a damper on people’s attempts at eating less meat and more vegetables.

In July 2025, wholesale prices for domestic fresh and dry vegetables skyrocketed 38.9% compared to a year ago, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
