I had a client with a small pool maintenance business - less than 10 employees. He let his alcoholic wife handle payroll and payroll tax deposits. She did the payroll, but spent the payroll tax money, often on booze. He was a drinker too, but more "functional". First she died, then he found out the IRS had been sending collection letters. He will be paying the IRS for the rest of his life.
