3. I have a friend who has shifted most of his family's retirement to Portuguese investments as part of their golden visa.

It’s a 5 year process and requires a minimum investment of 500k. He is in his early 40s and doesn’t want his kids to be trapped in the U.S. my wife and I are considering it as well.
