(43,450 posts)Are you saying that over the last 6 months, "common Democrats" haven't seen what congressional Democrats are doing? Not even once? If so, then "other than Gavin" you yourself clearly haven't been paying attention, and/or you and "common Democrats" -- who you imply that you speak for -- don't want to know.
If you did, you'd have seen Jeffries and Schumer are on MSNBC at least once or twice weekly while congress was in session.
Not only that, but Jeffries & Schumer put theirs and other Democrats' congressional speeches before CSPAN cameras and into the Congressional Record. Maybe you don't remember that Cory Booker's 25 hour speech about the big ugly bill was covered by all networks and made headlines -- "in more than one medium."
Maybe you didn't see that Schumer has made numerous appearances, particularly in relation to:
-- Debates and discussions on government funding, including a notable instance in March 2025 where he initially opposed then supported a Republican spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.
This decision generated significant news coverage and backlash from within his own party.
He appeared on programs such as Meet the Press to defend his position.
-- Floor remarks and press conferences on various topics such as Trump's policies, Project 2025, trade tariffs, Social Security, and aid to Israel.
-- Interviews on his book "Antisemitism in America: A Warning," including appearances on CBS Mornings and -- The New York Times' "The Interview".
-- Media appearances and press conferences on issues like Trump's nominees and the Epstein Files.
-- A postponed book tour due to security concerns after his funding bill decision, which also generated news coverage.
Maybe you haven't noticed that minority leader Hakeem Jeffries has done the same in the House. On August 11 he slammed the felon for seizing control of DC Police -- "in more than one medium, "YouTube videos and The Hill reported it.

Whether because of poor memory or just lack of attention, when you make stuff up about the party by claiming it doesn't do enough, it makes you, not the party, look a bit inattentive and/or lazy. I'll even bet that "common Democrats" know more of these things than you think.
