My grandmother had it and they told my mom, "She could live for decades with this". Eventually my grandmother died three years after breaking her hip. She refused to participate in rehab after breaking her hip. Her goal was to lay in bed, get pneumonia and die. She did this for three years and it took her three years to die.
I think her final diagnosis may have been internal gangrene. Probably from her hip site. She was very stubborn.
It's an extremely common diagnosis.

My father had similar bruising due to blood draws when he was in his late 80s. He lived to be 99.
