An encouraging phone call to my (Republican) representative [View all]
Brian Fitzpatrick represents my part of PA and was one of ?2 Republicans to vote against the Big Terrible Bill, after his office was deluged with phone calls.
I called his office on Friday and said to the young lady who answered--yes, a real person, not a recording--that I wanted Rep. Fitzpatrick to be courageous and compassionate and vote to have the full Epstein files released. I told him that these women deserved some kind of justice, and that it was within his power to help them attain that. I did not chide or tell him to grow a backbone, which has been the content of my previous calls.
The woman I spoke to was very, very interested in what I was saying and asked me to repeat it slowly so she could write it all down. I think his office is beginning to understand that he represents a purple district and that he'd better start paying attention to what we want, although I bet release of the Epstein files is important to the red part, too.
Anyway, want to encourage us all, especially those of us too decrepit and too broke to do much else, to use that phone at least a few times a week. I think it helps.
