In reply to the discussion: First words out of Chris Jansing's mouth this morning on MSNBC [View all]pat_k
(13,995 posts)33. Not to mention how wildly unpopular the MAGA Murder Budget is. When it comes to the looming shutdown....
I hope there is a lot of hammering on how wildly unpopular the things they are shuttiing down the government for are.
A sampling of what we need to be saying NOW:
They are hellbent on shutting down the government to make massive cuts to Medicaid -- which 47 promised not to "touch" -- so they can shovel money into the pockets of Americans who have more more money in their pockets, right this minute, than the average American would spend in 10 lifetimes.
Americans have weighed in on the idea of cutting Medicaid to shovel more than 50 billion a year into the pockets of the wealthiest 1% of Americans: Three times more Americans strongly disapprove of this than strongly approve of it.
Think about that. 300% more Americans strongly disapprove than strongly approve. And despite this, the Republicans are happy to punish all Americans by shutting down the government to protect this wildly unpopular scheme.
*Data behind the 10 times number: Average American lifetime spending 3.3 million. Average net worth of the top 1% 35 million. Data behind the 50 billion: Over a decade the estimated "take" in tax cuts for the top 1% is 500 billion, or 50 billion a year. The comparison of "strongly approve" to "strongly disapprove" is from the most recent Pew poll: 11% strongly approve to 33% strongly disapprove.
