30. Sixties front engine fuel dragsters

Had lead or steel bars taped to the front axle to prevent wheelstands Garlits broke 200 moh in 1964. So it waa called two hundred mile an hour tape. It was replaced with aluminum brackets bolted on because the tape was considered unsafe. I dont think they had a problem unless there was an accident. Which would possibly become a speeding projectile. Metal brackets were much safer. And dont get me started about clutch explosions when slipping clutches prevented smoking the tires the entire quarter mile. Slipping clutches transmitted more power to the track, but in the early stages of development they could explode and cut the car in half. This happened to jim nicoll when he narrowly lost to don prudhomme at the 1969 u.s. nationals right at the finish line. The front part of the car sped in front of prudhomme as he was decellerating with the aid of a parachute and the car , only from the engine forward, skidded in front of him. Prudhomme thought nicoll had died and nearly crying., said he was quitting. A few other drivers did die from clutch explosions, which also sent pieces into the grandstands injuring spectators.

And dont get me started about parachute failures, which still happens in the present.

Sorry, I like to write and my writing these days mostly ends up on internet message boards.

And dont get me started on hydrazine!
