Mrs Leavitt, and others in her culture, live
in a world of demons, spirit agents, and magical events. She, and the others, have a tenuous attachment with objective reality which allows them to weave and mix what they imagine with what they experience in daily life. The result is a confusing worldview that they don't really trust because it makes little sense regardless of whether they put the emphasis on the magical side or on what their senses reveal. This creates a lifelong trap of insecurity that cannot be easily relieved.

She could have said, with equal "validity" in her mind, that the Utah earthquake was a sign that Charlie Kirk should tone down or even stop his malevolent behavior but she decided to take the path of magic that gives her a dopamine rush instead.
