In reply to the discussion: Stock market CRASHED today. [View all]Bernardo de La Paz
(60,320 posts)45. I basicly agree with your post but add that 2.7 pct is dramatic (though not a crash). And tRump's tantrum sparked it.
Just that morning an analyst had dumped cold water on the "irrational exuberance" case by saying that the rise has been "orderly", which it kind of has been since May after the April fall and recovery.
2.7 percent in one day is not an orderly temporary pause or pull back. It might turn out to be one or the other of those, but orderly it is not.

While the market has some major issues, it's not going to crash like 1929

But the 2007 crash was nothing like the 1929 crash that spiraled into the Great Depression and WWIi

To put that in perspective, since Trump took office, the DJIA is up just half (%-wise) compared to Biden's final year.

He will now say something over the weekend to pump it back up and place his buy orders.

He's periodically crashing the stock market on purpose to hurt the middle class & enrich the already rich.

Instead, I think he is profoundly incompetent, but there may be people using inside knowledge
