15. Not Impeachable, but certainly dangerous, and against training regs.

Navy Ships haven't done shore bombardment at Camp Pendleton since the 60's, but it has been done before.
During WWII, they used to do live fire practice all over San Diego County. There are still places you can find WWI and WWII era UXA in the canyons near more modern housing developments, and warnings still up where old ranges were located.
On Edit:
Camp Pendleton hosts Shore Landing training for the Marines Several times a year. Typically, if there's "Shore Bombardment" drill for the troop carriers, it's firing dud casings designed to shatter apart after a certain distance, to reduce possible injury or damage to the landing troops. There's typically an alert issued for shoreline and inland valley communities nearby that there's going to be a lot of noise and "booms" between roughly 10 pm and 1 am over a week period when training is occuring.
Any live fire practice is done on deserted islands in the missile range 200+ miles out.

I don't think it's ship-to-shore fire, it's artillery on land firing eastwards over I-5 (nt) petronius Oct 18 #33
