In reply to the discussion: Will a woman be our next Democratic Party nominee for President? [View all]Jersey Devil
(10,832 posts)100. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away
My wife and I were talking about this just the other day. I'm 79 and she is 77 and sadly, we both agree that we won't see a woman elected President in our lifetimes. My prediction is that the next best chance for a woman will be AOC after she replaces Schumer as Senator from New York or someone like her who will have to pull what is left of America from the rubble that is left of it, a task so daunting that she will have to be almost superhuman to achieve ironically. BIG Sigh!

So you think being a woman has nothing to do with whether people vote for her or not?

Honestly, I don't think these current Republicans would pick a woman as their standard bearer

NO. Fair or not, women will be receiving the blowback from HRC and Harris' loss for some time

I seriously doubt it. Our party pits pragmatism against idealism for the sake of donor largess.

Not a chance in hell. The next nominee will be a straight, white guy like Beshear.

I agree. Just say the words commander-in-chief and the men of this country turn on a woman.

Yeah, but...we had "capable, sane, intelligent ..." males at a time when women couldn't vote, but that didn't stop us

I just don't like her, we don't really know her, I don't trust her, why is she really running for president?
