I was on a jobsite, working for fraudsters. This was back when California was arguing over English-As-the -official-language.
A voice from the next apartment was all about that.
When he passed the apartment I was working in he made a comment, thinking I would agree. My response was to ask him if he knew he was in a place called “Sacramento” in a State called “California”, and that his family had certainly moved there from somewhere else… Crickets.
The Trades is a good place to get a good feeling for what’s going on under those Red Hats. And it ain’t perty.
Sadly, some of the best contractors are MAGA. It suits the "Cowboy-as-King" independent crowd, where THEY make the rules and then bitch when they get red-tagged for violating the Code. So… yeah.
I worked for a widowed lady who was an “Angel” to lots of her acquaintences as she helped guide them through the issues confronting her senior friends. She was on the phone all day helping them. And in the background Rush Limbaugh is droning-on about”FemiNazis” endlessly. Such a sweet lady being poisoned a drop at a time. Incongruous.
Luckily, I didn’t have to deal with it too often. I got a license and I made a lot of effort to work in solitary. Not lucrative, but I didn’t end up dispensing “rough Justice” and having to live amongst them in the slammer.
