'Immigrants are stealing the American dream' = if you are not white, you a leeching of us white people.

That threatened 'American dream' = entitlement of white Americans. All for us, none for you, depending on your skin color.

Simplistic racism at its worst.

But unless you are 100% genetically descended from indigenous tribes, you or some of your ancestors were immigrants too.
Then again, they were immigrants too, if you go back far enough.

Australia does this too.
The government even had an immigration policy decades ago, the 'White Australian policy'.
Not welcomed as an immigrant if you didn't have skills or had the 'wrong' skin color.
