(8,959 posts)If Christianity is correct in understanding God as pure spirit, then God "the Father" and God the Holy Spirit have no gender, because only beings with bodies can have sex characteristics. Jesus of Nazareth was male and gendered if the gospel stories of his life are correct.
God is understood as having all the human strengths, but magnified unimaginably: God is all-powerful, all-knowing, has love and compassion for all. Since women as well as men have power and knowledge, and since both genders express love and compassion, it is a distortion to understand God as an old man with a white beard. God has both masculine and feminine strengths, but no gender, except for Jesus, who is understood as the Son of God. If God has a Daughter, she does not appear in the Bible, although there are holy women there.
So, to summarize, God is both masculine and feminine, but has no gender, except for Jesus of Nazareth, who was one of the most compassionate and forgiving teachers we have on record.
