25. Too much of our current timeline echoes prewar Europe

Of course it’s not the same, but too close for comfort.

Even the economy has eerie echoes. Prewar Berlin was similarly filled mostly with people that were blissfully unaware about what was happening around them and the true nature of the evil that was gunning for power and would later transpire.

We see it now. Restaurants are still filled up everywhere we see. The stock market is roaring. People are uneasy about their jobs but unemployment still is relatively low so it makes people blase and complacent. Even with incomplete data and numbers that are suspect, there are clear signals that people are in for a rude awakening, but I see a lot of giant egos performing jobs that tech giants are working to eliminate, and will likely be soon enough. Remember, in capitalism you’re not awarded to the best of your abilities, it’s whether it builds shareholder wealth.

It’s barely been one year since he’s been back in power.
