Yesterday

As it were, the suits were uncomfortable with a single/never-married woman striking out on her own and was happy. She didn't need a husband to protect her and comfort her. If it weren't for the ratings (and the fact that TSF wasn't in the WH), the show would have been yanked. CBS had enough on its plate with All In The Family.
