In reply to the discussion: The photo seems to disprove DHS's narrative [View all]Ol Janx Spirit

...to the fact that the current Administration is now going down a road they always decried but never believed that a Republican administration would perpetrate: shooting legally armed citizens in the street and lying about it.

I think they sat up and took notice.
I especially like the swift response from the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus quoted in the Axios article:
The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus demanded a "full and transparent investigation" and noted "there has been no evidence produced indicating an intent to harm the officers."
The group warned: "Every peaceable Minnesotan has the right to keep and bear armsincluding while attending protests, acting as observers, or exercising their First Amendment rights. These rights do not disappear when someone is lawfully armed, and they must be respected and protected at all times."

I was always amused by the Reich-wingers that claimed they would rather live in Putin's Russia than in Biden's America.
Some of the gun laws in Russia:
Age: Minimum 21 years old for most firearms, raised from 18 in 2021.
Safety: Complete gun safety courses and pass a federal test.
Background Checks: Must pass background checks, including for drug use or mental health issues.
Storage: Must have a secure gun safe, inspected by police.
Medical: Need certificates from doctors, including a psychiatrist and ophthalmologist.
Initial Purchases: Typically limited to smooth-bore long guns and pneumatic weapons.
Rifles: After five years of shotgun ownership, rifles may be purchased.
Handguns: Allowed for sport/competition and self-defense on private property, but live-ammo handguns cannot be concealed carried in public; only traumatic (rubber bullet) handguns are permitted for public self-defense.
Prohibited Areas: Carrying is banned at mass gatherings, protests, educational/night entertainment venues, and by intoxicated individuals.
But when you need to control the population you really can't let them have guns like we do in America.
It is going to be interesting to watch the current Administration start trying to make the argument that America should not be awash in private citizens bearing arms if they truly intend to control us.
