Showing Original Post only (View all)Minnesota Chief Judge Folds, Gives Up on ICE [View all]
Let's start with this little gem:
ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence, Schiltz wrote.
Briefly, this Minnesota Chief federal judge ordered the head of ICE to appear in person for violating judicial orders as part of a contempt hearing. The day before Todd Lyons was to appear the judge was notified that they had freed Juan Hugo Tobay Robles, an Ecuadorian citizen, as the judge had ordered.
But goes on to list 96 court orders in 74 cases that ICE continues to violate and says he may hold another contempt hearing if ICE continues to violate court orders.
W.T.F.
So the judge goes through the motions to detail 96 violations of court orders over 74 cases but again issues a pointless statement that he MAY order another contempt hearing if it continues
Again...
W.T.F.
The law has failed us. We have the chief federal judge of Minnesota, a lifetime appointment, by all appearances, afraid to uphold the law, afraid to hold ICE accountable, so what is a person like me supposed to think about that?
He also has the audacity to include this little gem in his ruling yesterday:
ICE is not a law unto itself, he said.
This is, very obviously, not true. They have violated 96 court orders in 74 cases and the official position of the chief federal judge of Minnesota is to do absolutely nothing about it but order a sternly worded letter.

And yet we still hear "But he won't do that. It's against the law!"

I do NOT understand the system, BUT if we have lifetime judges deciding to fold and give up what can be done?

Biden was old school Democrat. Where the differences between parties was very minor. Really just financial.

One problem is that you have to have a specific victim of an order for contempt to be a thing
