Saw a book ‘Human History on Drugs’ at the bookstore and curiously picked a random chapter.
Mind was blown. Read Wikipedia and a bit more online to verify. Here is what they did not talk about in news reports about the Unabomber.

Take a shy 16 year old genius (IQ 167) and give him a scholarship to Harvard.
As a sophomore, he volunteers for a psychological experiment that sounded like an intellectual debate (write an essay about your beliefs, then get challenged by others to defend the contents of your essay).

So for the next THREE YEARS, WEEK AFTER VICIOUS WEEK, under experiments conducted by Dr. Henry Murray (former OSS) the CIA recorded this student through a one-way mirror while a skilled interrogator belittled and taunted him. Then they forced him to watch these recordings being humiliated— so that he would see just how stupid they made him look. They were trying to psychologically break him — and in some specific way, it’s clear that they did break him.

The book says all of this is documented, and the only thing that is not documented is that they were dosing him with LSD during these 200 experiences. CIA director Richard Helms ordered MK-ULTRA materials to be destroyed. But they were sloppy about it, and recovered files showed that MK-ULTRA was ‘obsessed with LSD’. When Kaczynski’s lawyers tried to get the records from Harvard, Harvard refused and sealed all of Dr. Murray’s records.

As a mother, I am sickened that this was done to a young man at the precise time in life that a human needs to be finding friends, learning to trust and bond with other people, and transforming from a shy 17 year old boy to a socially adjusted 20-something. It is insane.

And it is criminal that these facts were hidden when the s*** hit the fan. Nobody owned up or was held to account for what they did and the role they played. Just like now, with the Epstein cases.

So ANYTIME the US government claims they “just want to protect children”, they are LYING.
