The Department of Labor (DOL) oversees cases of exploited children primarily to enforce the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which prohibits oppressive child labor and hazardous work conditions. The DOL investigates violations where minors are illegally employed, forced into dangerous jobs, or trafficked for labor, working to protect them from exploitation.
