(4,605 posts)I cant remember how it came about exactly, but I went to see him in the hospital here a few times. He looked very frail even then and that was a couple of years ago. He and I visited a good while and talked politicshe was definitely a good Democrat. He was a very proud man, even though he was in a wheelchair, he was proud to be independent in transfers and could even make it down the stairs of his apartment building. I still have no idea how he did that, but he said he did. He actually rode that wheelchair to the HEBa good mile or more from his house, and never accepted a ride from me. I would have been so happy to tote him wherever he needed to go, but he never asked and though I offered, I wasnt going to push my help on him. All of this is to say, Im not surprised he didnt take you up on your offers to help.
I am sorry to hear that he has passed.. I know I wont be the only one to miss his posts. I am sorry you have had sooo much grief to deal with the last few years. I am sending healing vibes that your broken heart mends quickly and is filled with happier memories.
