Some people are saying, "She's got to be sick in the head, laughing about the victim being killed. Lock her up in a mental ward and see if she can be fixed." But others are arguing, "No, she may have had anger problems, but she had the capacity to know what she was doing was wrong. That's not 'crazy' unless all assaults are crazy. Put her on trial."

So which is it, psychopath or merely a sociopath who let her impulses run over her judgment? Are they like any other Republican, capable of being members of Congress with bad ideas? Or are they a special variety of Republican, incapable of responsible behavior, the unnatural spawn of two generations of reckless demagoguery, rising like Frankenstein's monster to haunt the egomaniac that created them?
