Even on base I never opened the door to anybody. It's not that hard to get on base, even today, and people on base aren't always good people. I don't get how any woman can not accept that and be safe.
Also, it doesn't matter if she set up an appointment, if they showed up, still don't open the door, make them leave or call the police.

In our town, door-to-door sales people have to register with the police first. Otherwise, they can be arrested.
