I will believe in a dam breaking after I see a dam has very clearly and irrevocably broken, and not a moment before.

Most people look out for themselves first (though many call it looking out for their family), and this thin-skinned decomposing-Jack-o-Lantern of a POTUS has extraordinarily broad powers to harm those in uniform.
